GLR1000 Series

The GLR1000™ and GLR1000 1U™ are low-cost routers that provide a lightweight aluminum chassis, 266 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, two on-board 10/100 Ethernet ports, two Mini PCI slots, one USB bus with two internal ports, flash storage, and no cooling fans. Both GLR1000 chassis are designed for low-cost, small form-factor CPE installations with operating temperatures from 0° to 55° C. The extended temperature version can be deployed in outdoor enclosures with operating temperatures from -10° to 65° C, and options for 24 VDC and -48 VDC power are also available.

The GLR1000 is a set-top chassis that supports one DB-style and two RJ-style expansion ports, while the GLR1000 1U is a rackmount chassis that supports two DB-style and three RJ-style expansion ports. Expansion options currently include network cards for 10/100 Ethernet, T1/E1, and synchronous serial (RS232, RS422, X.21 and V.35). In the future, the GLR1000 will also support 56K dial-up, FXO/FXS voice interfaces, and all high-speed encryption co-processor for VPN acceleration.

GLR1000 routers take advantage of the GL Linux™ router distribution, which provides support for NAT firewall security, IPsec and SSL virtual private networks (VPNs), quality of service (QoS), VLAN tagging, VRRP for LAN failover, dynamic routing, packet filtering, bridging, peer-to-peer traffic control, and more. GL Linux also includes the Inetics driver component architecture (IDCA), which supports WAN protocols including PPP, Cisco HDLC and frame relay, as well as most multilink protocols including MLPPP, MLFR and CEF.

Both the GLR1000 and GLR1000 1U use the same system board and CPU, and both are capable of routing two T1s or E1s at wire speed.* Ethernet throughput for these routers can exceed 50 Mbps full duplex. Despite their exceptional price-performance, GLR1000 routers are not recommended for pure VoIP networks or other applications that produce high concentrations of small packets. Such networks may require a faster router like the GLR2000 or above.

The GLR1000 and GLR1000 1U are designed to handle common ISP and business-class network applications. The routers' advanced capabilities make them ideal for small-scale routing at branch offices and remote POPs. The GLR1000 and GLR1000 1U provide guaranteed wire-speed performance* and unwavering reliability in a compact size and price. Both chassis can be used to replace Cisco 1700 and 1800 routers, and they are excellent choices for QoS and small-scale VPN applications that require wire-speed performance in an integrated package with CALEA intercept support.
